Procrastination

rocrastination is a friend and a foe. It's a friend because while you procrastinate you gain time to actually rethink and refine certain concepts of things you have to do, finish previously unfinished projects (that were probably abandoned during a previous procrastination period and for some reason seem more challenging now), and start and finish new projects that need to be done, like, yesterday... However, it's also a foe, because it leads to other things being neglected. Par exemple: your blog...

Sort Of Coal - White Charcoal

Stumbled upon this today on Coolhunting, and I have to confess that I got unexpectedly and inexplicably enthused. Maybe it's its black color, maybe it's what it does.. I was instantly "enchanted". Sort Of Coal is exactly what it says it is, some sort of coal, handmade and purifying. Despite its black color, it's called White Charcoal for its purifying abilities. Among other things, it purifies water, (and other beverages) absorbs humidity, gases, odors from the air, and there is also an edible form, toothpaste, and a mini jewelry line available. ALSO, when the time comes to discard the porcelain-like object, it can be crushed and used as fertilizer for your plants! (My order is currently pending because they couldn't calculate shipping cost from Denmark to Cyprus...)

From Sort Of Coal: White Charcoal is natural charcoal that is activated through a controlled burning process done by hand and based on traditional Japanese methods.

Alexander McQueen Fall '09 Campaign

Alexander McQueen -> Genius // New Campaign -> Stunning

Patterns + Patterns + (Cracked) Mirrors = More Patterns
If anyone else tried to pull this off, they'd be lost in the polyphony of textures and colors. However, this is brilliant! Also, how amazing is the Pied-de-poule to actual bird pattern?

David LaChapelle Renders Michael Jackson

David LaChapelle strikes again... and after this he chose to move to a totally different genre.

David LaChapelle to Interview Magazine: I used a Michael Jackson impersonator and spent weeks and weeks moving pixels around to create the face of Michael Jackson circa 1990. It's a photograph, but it's a not a portrait, so it sort of redefines what a photograph is. We spent so much time going back in and putting in details and flaws, and there's no question that it's Michael Jackson. But he never posed for it. It's a very strange concept. In a way, it's going back to painting.

There some very interesting material in the Q&A over at the Interview Magazine Blog.
