City Of Melbourne New Logo

Australia is known for its good EVERYTHING. Honestly, I'm not sure if I've seen anything descending from Australia that's not solidly good. Great actors (too many to mention), awesome music (Empire Of The Sun, Midnight Juggernauts, Kylie, etc.), good fashion, good-looking/ exceptionally stylish people, and inevitably awesome design. Which is today's Australian eye-candy.
For all the reasons aforementioned and the fact that I have a fair amount of relatives there, I've been wanting to visit Australia for quite some time now. I think it's time I started planning my trip... to Melbourne.
The City of Melbourne recently launched its new ($A240,000) identity, which was developed by Landor Associates, igniting a storm of comments about the logo itself, but also about the price of the "fat blocky M". I personally adore the new logo, being the gradient addict I am. The color scheme is spectacular, while the fragmenting shadows and gradients are obviously there to deliver the multiple faces and aspects of Melbourne, or so I guess. I also love the use of the slightly condensed, bold sans serif font. Update: The font used is "Flagellini" and I'm vainly trying to find it. (And yes, the overall look is vaguely reminiscent of Batman's Gotham City, and I'm not bothered by it at all...)
The video below is amazing too...
Now if I could only find cheaper tickets to Australia...

Sunday Work Out

Running with a pair of L.I.F.T.s on a hot Sunday afternoon.
Ghostly Discovery App

The Ghostly Discovery App is a free application for the iPhone/iPod Touch which basically does what its name says: it helps you discover music off the Ghostly artist catalogue according to your mood. I'm in for some awesome music discoveries. via

I've been using this app quite a lot since I downloaded it last night, and I can say that I am enjoying it very much.
Some of the things I absolutely love about this app are: • it lets you register with an email address to which you can send a list of your favorite tracks and artists • you can be directed to iTunes to purchase the tracks you like • the app is very appropriately locked in landscape mode • everything is meticulously and brilliantly designed
Good stuff!
Dexter Season 4 First Look!

Another thing to wait for... Yay! The trailer can be viewed here.
Alice In Wonderland Trailer Leak

Is this awesome or what? March 2010!
Apparently this is the leaked version, hence the absence of the voiceover...
The Earth Song.

I was reminded of this song when I saw it playing on the tv at the gym today. I couldn't help but feel sad, not because of MJ's passing as such (been there, done that), but mostly because this (heartbreakingly) beautiful song, and its excellent video (directed byNick Brandt), vividly depict the situation of our planet. The shocking part is that it was written almost 15 years ago, which means that nothing has changed, we're still the same, and we still ravage, ruin and kill; animals, people, the earth.
This is the world we live in.

IQ Font - When Driving Becomes Writing

Funky font!
Two typographers ( Pierre & Damien / plmd.me) and a pro race pilot (Stef van Campenhoudt) collaborated to design a font with a car.
The car movements were tracked using a custom software, designed by interactive artist Zachary Lieberman. (openframeworks.cc)

New Project Teaser (Another One!)

I officially used my new Canon 500D for the first time, this past Saturday, on this project... Don't get me wrong, I adore my 12MP Canon PowerShot G9, but this one rocks! I am currently working on the post-production portion of the project and I am being stunned by all the detain the 500D captures. (Ecstatic scream goes here).
