1 Litre Water

I'm one of those annoying people who will complain about the taste of water, and yes it does make a difference if comes from the tap, the office cooler, or if it's bottled.

So this product combines awesome design with great water (at an exceptionally high price, one would guess). It has been awarded with the “People’s Choice in Packaging and Design at the Berkeley Spring Water Tasting Competition

Leaf Tie

Now there are some gorgeous cable-ties I'd be glad to use around, and not only on cables. (Basically, I live to see the day when cables will be totally eliminated from this world... I really, honestly, do hate cables.)

This project was developed by Lufdesign and the profits from this product will be used to benefit the causes for an ecology campaign.

You can get them off the Lufdesign website.

Bola

Bola - Fyuti 2002

A couple of months ago I clicked on a youtube link which was retweeted by Ghostly, and this track came up; Forcasa 3 (youtube video below), from Bola's 1998 release: Soup.

I fell instantly in love with it and immediately tried to find some more tracks by Bola, A.K.A. Darrell Fitton. Fitton, from Manchester, England, has released an extensive selection of amazing IDM (Intelligent Dance Music), and atmospheric electronic albums and EPs. After being absent from the underground music scene for quite some time he announced last year, via his facebook page, that he will continue to make music. (Thank God)

In a few weeks, Purity Device, an Australian band, will release Remix/Reform in which Bola has reconstructed one of their tracks: The Thought Police.

Scary Mary (Poppins) Trailer

Bumped on a funny trailer of "The Shining" which was, well... funny, but this I think was awesome!

I will never be able to see Mary Poppins the same way again... ever. A bit old, but better late than never...

Allandale House: A Cabin of Curiosities

I'm not sure if the fact that I'm posting these architecture-related posts lately means something, but I guess I always had a thing for beautifully formed spaces and structures.

This awesome house is by architect William O’Brien Jr., Assistant Professor of Architecture at the MIT School of Architecture and Planning, and it's located in Mountain West.

I love how the storage spaces are pretty much exposed, however, I am a bit intimidated by the huge windows, (imagine looking out those windows in the dark, in the middle of the mountains).

Text from the architect's website:
Allandale House is an A-frame(s) house for an idiosyncratic connoisseur and her family. Along with its occupants, the Allandale House also provides space for an eccentric collection of artifacts that resist straightforward classification. Wines, rare books, stuffed birds and an elk mount are among the relics on display in this small vacation house.

MJ 2000 Prediction: So Off!

I can't even begin to write about how wrong Ebony's prediction, from 1985, on how Michael Jackson would be in 2000 is. Oh well...

The Greenest, Most Innovative Apartment

Imagine an apartment only 32m2 (330 square feet) but capable of transforming into 24 rooms. It's like a spacious apartment with a TV room, a study, a projection room, and an island kitchen...

Well, if you're Gary Chang, a Hong Kong-based architect, you can turn your teensy-weensy crammed apartment into a fully equipped, environmentally friendly and comfortable apartment with the use of moving walls, sepia tinted windows (which give the sunlight effect), and retracting rooms.

I wonder though, how procedural one has to become in order to live in such an apartment? I think I would be able to live with moving a couple of walls around, however, I'm not that crazy about the extra bed sitting over the bathtub (EW!).

The Complete Metropolis

Probably the first Sci-Fi film in the history of cinema: Metropolis, was first released in 1927 and was directed by Fritz Lang.

The film is set in the futuristic city of Metropolis. Masked under the science fiction veil, lies the actual meaning of the film: the gap between the workers and the owners in a capitalist society.

I have only seen bits and pieces of it, when I was in college, in my History of Cinema class and I remember I was amazed by how everything was so well put together. I now want to see the whole, remastered, full cut version of it which come out later this year.
